Cinemausher’s Best Films of 2012

I love lists, especially year end list for movies! Last year when i had an opportunity to make this list, I had jumped to the occasion and this year fortunately (or unfortunately) for readers, I am churning out a list of my best films of 2012. Personally, for me, this year has been good with regards to movie especially with resurgence of Malayalam Cinema. If you ask me to describe 2012 at movies in one word, then it has to be “FANBOYISM”, we witnessed it with Agent Vinod in Bollywood, Gabbar Singh in Tollywood, and even in Hollywood with the release of The Dark Knight Rises. Whether fanboyism is good or bad for industry in the long run is altogether a different matter. Coming back to the list, this year has been bit difficult, probably due to many choices. Also after watching so many movies one tends to become desensitized while watching films, but it is always good to see some good work of art which touches your heart and moves you. Oh, and lastly, the list is not in any particular order. So here goes my Best Films of 2012:Continue reading “Cinemausher’s Best Films of 2012”

Ustad Hotel : A Tale of Relationships and a Gastronomic Journey

Surprise, surprise, is this an Anwar Rasheed film? So, Bridge in Kerala Cafe is not a fluke after all – the man can make cinema that is both entertaining and artistic, without making too many compromises. With Anjali Menon wielding the pen here, Anwar creates an engaging, though at times uneven (especially in the second half) tale of a young man who discovers his passion and love in life, as he stumbles from the peaks of a cosy life in Europe to a more grounded life in Kozhikode.Continue reading “Ustad Hotel : A Tale of Relationships and a Gastronomic Journey”

Ustad Hotel Movie Review: Wah Ustad Wah!!!

Anwar Rasheed, Listin Joseph and Anjali Menon to start with is an eclectic mix and you don’t know what to expect from such a combination.Between them you have super star movies, refreshingly original content and plaigarized stuff all at once. Add to that the contrasting starcast of Dulquer’s youthful exuberance and Thilakan’s solid body of work, you just don’t know what the heck to expect from the mix.Continue reading “Ustad Hotel Movie Review: Wah Ustad Wah!!!”

Ustad Hotel-Trailer

Director Anwar Rasheed has been known for his successful commercial Malayalam films like Rajamanikyam, Chotta Mumbai and Annan Thambi. But we realized that he could also carry off a strong emotional tale wonderfully as seen in the segment ‘Bridge’ in Kerala Cafe. Continue reading “Ustad Hotel-Trailer”
