Suicide Squad (2016) Movie Review

First of all…STOP DISHING AGAINST DC!!

Agreed that MOST of their early movies only bring a tear to the eye and that too not the happy kinds. Val Kilmer as Batman compared to Nolan’s Batman now looks more like a leather strapped, Vicodin induced creep wearing a flying cape. But don’t forget, we are only watching the Batman movies in theaters after Nolan managed to ‘free our mind’.Continue reading “Suicide Squad (2016) Movie Review”

Fury (2014) Movie Review: Men At War

Language : English | Running Time :  134 Minutes | Director : David Ayer

What a real sad loss it is if Shia LaBeouf indeed doesn’t act anymore. One of the prominent thoughts that I held on to after watching David Ayer’s “Fury” is how tragic it actually is to lose an actor like Shia LaBeouf who makes a bible quoting World War 2 veteran so believable and his fears and faith so touching. The other thing that really struck me is how the post-Saving Private Ryan movies don’t hide the war wounds, the pulping of brains, the shells bursting and breaking skull, the actors bathed in mud, trying to cover ground in rain hit lands of Germany. Saving Private Ryan was certainly a landmark film in how war action got depicted.Continue reading “Fury (2014) Movie Review: Men At War”

Sabotage (2014) Movie Review: An Old Style Actioner in a New Avatar

Sabotage PosterFor someone like me who watches multiple films every week it’s not often that I find myself in a situation where I am more or less clueless about a movie till a few hours before I watch it. And if the movie happens to feature a good star cast headed, by one of my favourite stars from childhood it gets quite surprising. Add to it a director who is respected for his previous work and then you really wonder how did this just happen? 🙂 That’s what happened to me with Sabotage this week, a film which has a solid ensemble cast headed by the one & only Arnold Schwarzenegger and directed by David Ayer. His previous film End of Watch was quite appreciated for the documentary style realistic way of looking through the daily lives of two young cops in Los Angeles, who are partners at work and best of friends. Needless to say once I realized the people involved in the film, I would be lying if I say that I wasn’t excited to watch the film.Continue reading “Sabotage (2014) Movie Review: An Old Style Actioner in a New Avatar”

Cinemausher’s Best Films of 2012

I love lists, especially year end list for movies! Last year when i had an opportunity to make this list, I had jumped to the occasion and this year fortunately (or unfortunately) for readers, I am churning out a list of my best films of 2012. Personally, for me, this year has been good with regards to movie especially with resurgence of Malayalam Cinema. If you ask me to describe 2012 at movies in one word, then it has to be “FANBOYISM”, we witnessed it with Agent Vinod in Bollywood, Gabbar Singh in Tollywood, and even in Hollywood with the release of The Dark Knight Rises. Whether fanboyism is good or bad for industry in the long run is altogether a different matter. Coming back to the list, this year has been bit difficult, probably due to many choices. Also after watching so many movies one tends to become desensitized while watching films, but it is always good to see some good work of art which touches your heart and moves you. Oh, and lastly, the list is not in any particular order. So here goes my Best Films of 2012:Continue reading “Cinemausher’s Best Films of 2012”
