Kali da, played by Paran Bandhopadhyay, is the most profound and earthy character of the movie. He spouts wisdom of the ages, like Oogway from Kungfu Panda, as he has seen life from close quarters. His oft repeated line “Ei toh jibon” as response to questions about morality and ethics that Bob Biswas poses to him, has the much needed calming effect on Bob.

Jagga Jasoos Movie Review: Arrested Development

Let’s be honest here, as a desi audience that’s grown up on Bollywood Masala, we are definitely no strangers to the musical. But in Jagga Jasoos, director Anurag Basu tries to push the envelope by presenting most of the movie in tune and verse, an attempt to bring Broadway to Bollywood, something we probably last saw in Shirish Kunder’s equally befuddling debut effort, Jaan-E-Mann. Double Feluda: Trailer

double-feluda-posterDouble Feluda is an upcoming Bengali language crime thriller drama film, based on the Bengali sleuth Feluda, created by the acclaimed and renowned Oscar– winning director Satyajit Ray. Directed by the latter’s son Sandip Ray, the film marks the comeback of both Sabyasachi Chakraborty and Saheb Bhattacharya, with the former returning to the iconic of Feluda and the latter playing his sidekick, Topshe. The film is reportedly said to be released for Christmas, 2016 to mark the 50th anniversary of the iconic creation. After going with Abir Chatterjee as Feluda in Badshahi Angti (2014), Sandip Ray has gone back to Sabyasachi and Eros International has stepped in as the producer. Rajkahini PosterAfter the wonderful Nirbaak earlier this year, Srijit Mukherji is back with his next film Rajkahini which will be released during Durga Puja this year. Featuring an ensemble cast which includes 11 major female characters, Rajkahini is produced by Shree Venkatesh Films and is a tale that is based during 1947 when India gains freedom from the British and the Partition happens. Featuring Abir Chatterjee once again as Byomkesh, the film is slated to release on 19th December, setting up an interesting clash with Sandip Ray‘s Badshahi Angti. Not only is it a unique case of 2 films based on 2 popular Bengali detectives (Byomkesh and Feluda) releasing on the same day, it is also a unique case of Abir Chatterjee playing the lead in both these films. Presented by Kaushik Ganguly, the film is produced by Shree Venkatesh Films and is written by Churni Ganguly and Kaushik Ganguly.
