In a surprising development it has been learnt that Deepika Padukone is now part of the already huge team of S.S.Rajamouli‘s Baahubali: The Conclusion, the sequel to last year’s blockbuster, Baahubali: The Beginning. Already busy with the shoot of her first Hollywood film, xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, the 3rd film in the xXx franchise, Deepika is known to have shot for a couple of days recently in total secrecy for Baahubali: The Conclusion. While all the attention in the last few days regarding Deepika has been the discussion over whether she is disappointed at losing out the National Award (Best Actress) to Kangna Ranaut despite amazing performances in Piku and Bajirao Mastani, a little birdie tells us that Rajamouli was quite clear that the news of Deepika’s presence in the project was to be kept under wraps till a suitable opportune moment was to come across. Now that we know that Deepika is part of Baahubali: The Conclusion it becomes all the more clear that the project has just bigger in proposition, not just in Telugu and Tamil, but most importantly in the dubbed Hindi version. One might remember that Baahubali: The Beginning is the first and so far the only regional film to do an All India business of above 100 crores (nett) in the Hindi dubbed version.
So what exactly is Deepika’s role in Baahubali: The Conclusion? And is it a full fledged role or just a cameo? Well while we aren’t completely sure, our source tells us that she is in all likelihood playing Bhallala Deva’s (Rana Daggubati) wife and that she’ll be appearing in a never before seen appearance. However her presence is mostly going to be restricted to a cameo with just a few scenes. If you are wondering why did she agree to be a part of the film, then don’t forget that Baahubali: The Beginning is one of the biggest blockbusters in the history of Indian Cinema, doing extremely well in all its language versions, having even left a major impact overseas. It has also gone on to win the National Award for Best Film, a total endorsement of the film in every possible way. And who wouldn’t want to work with S.S.Rajamouli now, who knows perhaps it could lead to something bigger for Deepika the next time around.
While we continue to remain amazed and wonder how much bigger is the project going to get, as per information heard from a reliable source (who prefers to remain anonymous for obvious reasons) there could be more surprises in store for us, we need to wait and watch for more details to get unveiled. We managed to reach out to S.S.Rajamouli to confirm the developments with great difficulty and this is what he has to say “Well to be honest I’m quite surprised how you guys managed to get this information but then I can’t totally deny it as well, all I can say as of now is that casting decisions are being taken in such a way that the film benefits overall,no one is part of the film unless their presence is really required in the film.”
On being asked if this means we can expect a lot more surprises in the days to come, here is what Rajamouli has to say-“well we haven’t really planned anything in the form of surprises, but yes there would be certain announcements which includes news of people being associated for the first time with the franchise. Hopefully people will warm up to to Baahubali: The Conclusion in a much bigger way than Baahubali: The Beginning”.
Now doesn’t this increase our curiosity and make us all look forward to Baahubali: The Conclusion, April 14,2017 seems to be so far away for now.
