Commercial cinema in India is a tricky issue, especially so in Tamil and Telugu where directors need to tread a path wherein they need to balance their storytelling and pander to fans. While Vijay has been consistently among the most popular stars in Tamil cinema, with a solid mass fan following, Nelson on the other hand is a director who is known for dark comedy, a genre which has not been explored much in Tamil cinema. I was looking forward for this combination, expecting something exciting to emerge out of it.

Kappal: Trailer
Karthik G.Krish who had apprenticed under filmmaker Shankar in Enthiran (2010) now makes his debut with the Tamil comedy film, Kappal (Ship). Produced by I Studios Entertainment, the film is being presented by Shankar, which makes the film quite an exciting prospect for the trade. Kappal features Vaibhav Reddy in the lead and introduces Sonam Bajwa as the heroine. The rest of the star cast includes VTV Ganesh, Karunakaran, Arjunan etc. The music is by Natarajan Sankaran while Dinesh Krishnan is the DOP and Anthony is the editor. Nedunchalai: Trailer
N.Krishna shot to fame with his 1st Tamil film as director, Sillunu Oru Kaadhal (2006).Though the film didn’t become a commercial success, it did make headlines because it featured Suriya and Jyothika in the lead and it released during the week that they got married. The film was also noted for its slightly controversial theme and the music by A.R.Rahman. Though N.Krishna had started work finally on his second film Nedunchalai (Highway) in mid 2012, the film has been in the making for quite some time. With Udhayanidhi Stalin‘s Red Giant Movies finally picking up the distribution rights in late 2013, the film has finally been completed and will now be releasing on 28th March.Continue reading “Nedunchalai: Trailer”
Inga Enna Solludhu: Trailer
Director Vincent Selva has been making Tamil films for a long time but is mostly known for the 2 films he made with Vijay– Priyamudan and Youth, apart from Jithan (the Tamil remake of Gayab). Of late he has been out of the radar though he has been making the sporadic small film on and off. He is now ready with his new film Inga Enna Solludu (what does it say here?) and the film has been in the news from the time it got announced as it has VTV Ganesh making a transition as hero.
