As every year, it’s the time of the year when film lovers across Mumbai rejoice, thanks to MAMI. This year we were looking forward to MAMI, with enthusiasm as Jio MAMI 2015 was supposed to get bigger and better. Umrika, second feature of Prashant Nair who first made Delhi in A Day, won the audience award in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition section at the Sundance film festival this year. The film is about a young man from a village who lands up in Mumbai in search of his elder brother who supposedly went to America but was never heard from again after his departure. Suraj Sharma of Life of Pi fame plays the lead role in the film which also stars Tony Revelori, the bell boy from The Grand Budapest Hotel, amongst others.Continue reading “Umrika Movie Trailer”
Manish Mundra’s Masaan directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival 2015, won two awards– FIPRESCI, International Jury of Film Critics prize and Promising Future prize in the Un Certain Regard section.
