Raees vs Kaabil: Clash of the Titans?

Jan 25th was slated to be the battle of the stars- Shahrukh and Hrithik battling it out with Raees and Kaabil respectively. The swords were all out with both the parties battling it out with their PR machinery. Some even called it as a mentor-pupil battle. And it mattered for both the stars as their previous movies were almost a washout (Fan and Mohenjo Daro).Continue reading “Raees vs Kaabil: Clash of the Titans?”

Raees Movie Review: Once Upon A Late Latif

It’s all Ram Gopal Varma’s fault. Till he showed up with Satya, Company etc, we were so used to the trope of the gangster being a modern day Robin Hood, a leader of the community, a do-gooder on the wrong path etc, that when we were exposed to what gangsters really are, ordinary men and women with a gun, who let their ego come in the way of reason, flawed human beings who may be larger than life for a few fleeting moments, but end up the victim of either the system, or their own hubris.Continue reading “Raees Movie Review: Once Upon A Late Latif”

Ek Paheli Leela Movie Review : Sunny Side Up

How would you feel if you go out to a restaurant where a speciality dish is presented to you in the most eye-pleasing fashion, except that the item tastes bad? Debutant Director Bobby Khan’s Ek Paheli Leela, a Sunny Leone vehicle, is unfortunately like that dish. Ace choreographer Ahmed Khan has given us cow dung like Lakeer (2004), Fool N Final (2007) and Paathshaala (2010). In 2015, he comes back to us with his brother, Bobby, who is possibly another leaf out of the same book. So just like that dish in the restaurant, Ek Paheli Leela begins with a stinky taste, bores you by the time you are half done, and while the second half tries to redeem itself as you get used to the dish, it would be too late to not judge the restaurant’s service by then.

Vadacurry: Trailer

Vadacurry_PosterSaravana Rajan, a former associate of Venkat Prabhu made heads turn last year with the announcement of his debut feature film in Tamil- Vadacurry. Produced by Dayanidhi Azhagiri‘s Meeka Entertainment, the film brings back the Subramaniapuram pair of Jai and Swati Reddy and the rest of the star cast includes RJ Balaji, Kasthuri, Misha Ghoshal etc. But the more striking feature is the inclusion of Sunny Leone in an item number. Vadacurry has music by newcomer duo Vivek Shiva and Mervin Solomon, while Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed one song “Uyirin Maeloru Uyirvandhu” for the film. Venkatesh.S is the DOP of the film while Praveen K.L & N.B.Srikanth are the editors.Continue reading “Vadacurry: Trailer”

Ragini MMS 2 Movie Review : A Moronic Film Sold to the World Like Gold

Ekta Kapoor’s Ragini MMS 2 is a very smart film. Smart not because it is made like one, but it is sold like one. What does a child do when he has to face his parents after making a mistake at school? He tries to pretend that nothing ever happened and behaves extra sweet to his dad or mom. But Balaji Telefilms/ALT Entertainment completely forgot that the dads may not always be that naïve. And I am the worst dad possible, the one who calls up the teacher every day to check up what the kid did in school. So yes, the two promotional songs became a raging success and I was promised double the fun of the first film, hereby accepting that I did like the first film in parts. But hey, this one is a bunch of junk, and even showing Sunny Leone’s junk cannot redeem it.

Ragini MMS 2: Trailer

Ragini MMS 2Ragini MMS (2011) was India’s answer to Paranormal Activity and the film with its mix of supernatural horror and sex managed to be a commercial success. So it was no surprise when producers Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor announced a sequel for the same. The announcement created a mild flutter as Sunny Leone got signed up for the lead role & while the previous film was directed by Pawan Kripalani, the sequel is directed by Bhushan Patel who has directed 1920: Evil Returns earlier.Continue reading “Ragini MMS 2: Trailer”
