Noah(2014) Movie Review: God Fella

Noah movie image

At the outset would clarify that I am not much aware of Biblical episodes and have neither fell into the temptation of reading and verifying all facts and myths. So have no intention to compare and debate the actual source from any of its written material to the one that has been transformed on screen. What was more intriguing to me is does this tale hold its own in todays context or is it just another futile exercise by the big studios to pass on a popcorn watch with lavish production and spectacular effects. Fortunately for us Darren Aronofsky is a seasoned hand and he knows to enter unchartered territories of human mind which makes the movie a triumphant watch.

Noah (Russel Crowe) has dreams of an apocalyptic deluge and with motivational aid from his grandfather Methuselah (Anthony Hopkins in a very brief role); he takes upon the task to construct a huge Ark meant to shelter every living being with two of its own breed.Continue reading “Noah(2014) Movie Review: God Fella”

Winter’s Tale (2014) Movie Review: Beauty Masquerading As Cinema

Language : English | Running Time : 118 Minutes | Director : Akiva Goldsman

Every year, Hollywood screenwriters sit together behind a long table, feast on their dinner and vote on which books have to be butchered in the name of cinema the following year. Two years back, they voted on Winter’s Tale, a book where a city is romanticised like romance should be written. Akiva Goldsman has chosen a wonderful subject for his debut film as director and Winter’s Tale is a story worthy of being told but it is a book where there is a lot of magical things happening which if not brought out properly, can ruin the movie. I wonder if Akiva Goldsman considered this when he decided to make the movie. A fairy tale, the movie deserves a suspension of disbelief and be taken gently but when the first time a magical horse leaps past a 10 feet iron gate(I didn’t measure) and a lady in the cinema hall screams “balls”, you know that there is no place for such a film.Continue reading “Winter’s Tale (2014) Movie Review: Beauty Masquerading As Cinema”

10 Most Anticipated Hollywood Movies Of 2014

Most Anticipated Movies Of 2014

Without wasting further time, let me write about the most anticipated movies of the year 2014.

22_jump_street_movie_poster_1Kindly note that this list is purely compiled on the basis of my personal choices and preferences.

10. 22 Jump Street : Co-Written by the multi-talented actor/writer Jonah ”Superbad, MoneyBall” Hill  he teams up once again with Channing ”G.I Joe”Tatum in 22 Jump Street. 22 Jump Street is a story of 2 undercover cops who are so good at being incapable that in the 1st film they had to let go of a criminal because they couldn’t read him his rights. The film which is directed by  Phil Lord and Chris Miller (Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs) is a sequel to the hilarious 21 Jump Street. This time they are going undercover in a local college, so expect some more funny one liners and insane gags.

9. A Million Ways to Die in the West : Written & directed by an absolute mental Seth”Family Guy, Ted” MacFarlene, this film promises to push the limits of  comedy which range from  gross to the most creative gags. See the fight scene between Mark Wahlberg and Ted in the movie Ted to know what am talking about. A Million Ways To Die In The West tells the  story of a cowardly farmer who seeks the help of a gunslinger’s wife to win back the woman who left him. It sounds serious but trust me it’s going to be madness and knowing Seth’s work it maybe something out of the box.Continue reading “10 Most Anticipated Hollywood Movies Of 2014”

Man of Steel(2013) Imax 3D: Movie Review

Hollywood Studios seem to have found a formula to mint money, which is to make movies based on comic book superheroes. In the past, Hollywood had produced many Superhero movies, but the success of Spider-Man changed the way Hollywood looks at these films. Suddenly Hollywood realized wasting time in creating new action blockbusters is futile, when they can just use comic book characters which already have huge fan base and audiences who will readily shell out money to watch this.Continue reading “Man of Steel(2013) Imax 3D: Movie Review”
