The Best of Tamil Cinema in 2016

2016 was an interesting year for Tamil Cinema with a variety of topics being explored. Some big films didn’t do well, while some small films made impact. Certain stars did well, while some of them didn’t really do well. Here are the films in my opinion which stood a little apart from the rest of the pack and made an impact this year. The movies aren’t sorted in any order of merit. Jacobinte Swargarajyam Movie Review: The Family That Fights All Odds Together, Stays Together

Let’s admit it, we have all faced adversities in some form or the other, or at least have known people who have faced it. We have also perhaps managed to overcome the same or know people who have been successful in fighting their way back. This is perhaps why we love to watch, or listen to tales of people, who face their crisis head on and emerge a winner. Well, no need to blame me there.Continue reading “Nerungi Vaa Muthamidathe Movie Review: Woman On Top”

Naan Mahaan Alla Movie Review: Fiery Yet Realistic

When the Karthi wave is at its peak and you have a lackluster film like Saguni turning out to be a huge success I’m kind of wondering what’s happening. This also made me ponder about Karthi who started off his career with a Paruthiveeran and who also did an Aayirathil Oruvan as well before Paiyaa and Siruthai made him change his whole course of action. In between he also did a movie called Naan Mahaan Alla which was quite a violent film but made with a lot of sensibility, not seen usually in films of this genre. So here is an attempt to revisit my memories of Naan Mahaan Alla.Continue reading “Naan Mahaan Alla Movie Review: Fiery Yet Realistic”
