Double Seat Movie Review: Is the ride worth it?

Marathi movie makers in recent times are choosing hatke topics, be it Poshter Boyz, Court, Killa or the recently released Shutter. This is obviously a welcome change as we all were quite bored with the monotony that Bharat Jadhav and Makrand Anaspure brought to Marathi cinema. Double Seat does not deal with a way too hatke a topic though. The trailer looked promising, but does the film deliver? Timepass 2: Trailer

Timepass 2 Poster 2Timepass which released in early 2014 went on to become the all time biggest blockbuster in Marathi Cinema (with Lai Bhaari breaking it’s record later in the year) making writer-director Ravi Jadhav all the more popular. The film which spoke of the romance between 2 teenagers, Dagdu (Prathamesh Parab) and Prajakta (Ketaki Mategaonkar) was loosely based on Shaiju Mathew’s book-Knocked Up. Now Ravi Jadhav takes the story forward with the sequel, Timepass 2. Dagdu (Priyadarshan Jadhav) and Prajakta (Priya Bapat) have now grown up and their romance continues. Classmates (Marathi Movie): Trailer

Classmates Marathi Poster 3Supposedly inspired by the novel A Wedding in December by Anita Shreve, Lal Jose‘s Malayalam movie Classmates (2006) about a group of classmates from college turning up for a reunion 14 years after their final year, was a smashing success. It went on to be remade in Tamil (Ninaithale Inikkum) and Telugu (Classmates) and neither versions could repeat the success of the Malayalam version. Now Aditya Ajay Sarpotdar who made the enjoyable Narbachi Wadi (2013), returns with the Marathi remake of the film, also called as Classmates itself.
