Pari (Hetal Gada) is a 10 year old girl residing with her visually impaired younger brother Chhotu (Krish Chhabria) in a remote village of Rajasthan. Living in a world which is seemingly devoid of smartphones and other fancy gadgets that dominate the lives of city bred kids, Pari and Chhotu’s existence is an idyllic one with films being their only access to the outside world. Cinema drives their world as they weave fables around their favourite stars Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. It also helps them to escape the harsh realities of their lives. Post their parents demise; the kids live with their loving but helpless uncle (Vipin Sharma) and the cold hearted aunt (Gulfam Khan). After seeing a poster for an eye donation campaign plastered with Shah Rukh Khan’s face on it, Pari believes that Khan is the only person who can help to restore her brother’s vision. Winner of the The Grand Prix of the Generation Kplus International Jury for the best feature-length film as well as a Special Mention by Children’s Jury in Generation Kplus Section at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival in 2015, Nagesh Kukunoor‘s Dhanak (Rainbow) is now all set for a theatrical release in India from 10th June. Produced by Manish Mundra, Nagesh Kukunoor and Elahe Hiptoola, the film’s cast includes Hetal Gada and Krrish Chhabria along with Rajiv Lakshman, Vipin Sharma, Fllora Saini, Suresh Menon, Vibha Chhibber, Vijay Maurya, Chet Dixon etc. Music and BGM is by Tapas Relia while Chirantan Das is the DOP and Sanjib Dutta is the editor.
