Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) Movie Review: A Colossal Train Wreck

Harvey Dent once said this – “The night is the darkest just before dawn.” This movie is about the darkest part. As far as summer blockbusters go, this was the biggest showdown of all.

Some 5 hours into the film, Batman, sitting in his Batwing, barks at Alfred, “What is Happening?”.. The reply over his comms is “How best to describe it?”.. Well, that should tell you about the film! The most iconic superhero slugfest is far from what was promised. Or, let me say, what most people expected from it.Continue reading “Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) Movie Review: A Colossal Train Wreck”

The Best of Hollywood: 2013

2013 was a rather mixed affair for Hollywood movies. The summer releases this year were largely underwhelming (Iron man 3, Man Of Steel, Fast and Furious 6 amongst others) if you ask me. Only a few amongst such releases made for enjoyable big screen viewing such as Pacific Rim, Star Trek into Darkness.

However there were also some good  films which emerged out of Hollywood this year.  As always I was able to watch some of them, while a few still remain unseen. Without wasting further time, here is my list of the Hollywood films I loved watching this year.

Kindly note these films are not rated in any particular order.

And yes let the bouquets and brickbats follow 🙂Continue reading “The Best of Hollywood: 2013”

Sleuth (A mystery – shaken & stirred)

I have always believed that a well written movie is a great movie, irrespective of the genre. One such movie is Sleuth (1972), an adaptation of Mr. Anthony Schaffer’s Broadway play. Not all stage plays are remade / adapted into great movies, for the plot, characters, setting may not enthrall the audience the same way the play did. The plot and characters often tend to lose their power in front of a movie camera.Continue reading “Sleuth (A mystery – shaken & stirred)”

30 Minutes Or Less Movie Review

Director : Ruben Fleischer

Starring : Jesse Eisenberg, Aziz Ansari , Danny McBride

Dassera day being a holiday , ‘yours truly’ once again ventured to the cinema hall with fellow filmaholic “Cinemausher” to watch the latessht ‘NTR’ Jr Blockbuster Oosaravelli at PVR Mulund.

Totally  underestimating the power of Shri NTR , yours truly left home casually at 2 p.m for the  3 p.m show. Already with one ticket in hand and reaching at 2.30 p.m, I  surprisingly didn’t get my ticket for the 3 p.m show. Then another shocking revelation – the 6 pm show was also full. Yours truly didn’t understand what hit him. And also envisioned NTR jr  with a halo above his head smiling wickedly around yours truly and saying “You arent my true fan, go away”.Continue reading “30 Minutes Or Less Movie Review”
