Velaiyilla Pattathari (VIP) Movie Review: Royal Entertainment, Smartly Packaged!

Honestly I stepped into Velaiyilla Pattathari quite wary of the implications of having an unemployed loafer of a protagonist stalk the dumbest girl on earth  for almost one twenty minutes, while in the process crack the crudest sexist jokes and mouth the lamest punch lines till every soul in the theatre either drops dead or acts so. The trailer was suggestive of  a ‘larger than life’ celebration of the lead, and that made me all the more chary mainly because of bleeding from a few recent horrendous outings in the name of ‘commercial cinema’. To be frank, I had always wondered how people throng to the theatres in gobs and pay to watch their tastes and sensibilities being mocked at by insanely bad undeserving films under the garb of family entertainment.
