PickUrFlick Indie Film Festival’s First Delhi Edition To Begin From 19th May

The first edition of PickUrFlick Indie Film Festival founded by Abhishek Sinha will be held at Instituto Cervantes, New Delhi from 19th to 21st May, 2017. The opening ceremony will be inaugurated by the Mr. Carlos Varona Narvion (Director, Instituto Cervantes). 

This edition will screen 70 films over 4 categories in more than 10 languages. 52 shorts, 7 features, 8 Animations and 3 documentaries spread over 23 Spanish films, 14 Silent Films, 7 Hindi Films, 4 Bengali Films, Assamese, Nepali, Persian, German, Arabic, French, Russian and Kurdish film. The Spotlight Country for this edition is Spain with a special focus on Spanish/Latin American films.

The festival will also witness 2 World Premieres, 35 Asian Premieres and 6 Indian Premieres including the Brandon Mckinney’s silent thriller Dealer that will have its World Premiere on the last day of the festival. 
 
The 2016 Student Academy Award winning AYNY-My Second Eye and the critically acclaimed WWII German feature, Hore Die Stille (Hear The Silence) are the opening and closing films of the festival. 

The other films that will be screened at the festival include Jaicheng Jai Dohutia’s National Award winning Handuk (The Hidden Corner), Iranian short film Label and the acclaimed Myanmar film My Life I Don’t Want.

The festival also felicitates the filmmakers with awards like Best Director, Best Short Film, Best Feature Film among other awards on the last day of the festival. These selected movies will also be available for online viewing on PIFF’s website.

The Bengaluru edition of the festival was held from 31st March to 2nd April 2017 and screened more than 50 films. The jury members for the Bengaluru and Delhi edition were Anusha Rizvi (Peepli Live), Bhaskar Hazarika (Kothanodi), Mahendra Jakhar (Swastika Killer),, Sanal Kumar Sasidharan (Sexy Durga) and Rao Narendra Yadav (Founder-Director, Woodpecker International Film Festival). 

On the eve of the Delhi edition, Abhishek Sinha, Founder of Pickurflick.com says, It’s a celebration of the true Indie spirit that is fostering the creativity worldwide. What’s interesting is that these films also reflect the current underlying tones be it conflict, gender discrimination or complexities of modern day relationships.
