Veeram is a forthcoming Malayalam movie and a epic historical drama written and directed by National Award winning writer-director Jayaraj. It is an adaptation of William Shakespeare‘s play, Macbeth, and is the fifth installment in Jayaraj’s Navarasa series. The film, which also takes inspirations from the Vadakkan Pattukal (Northern Ballads) of North Malabar region in Kerala tells the story of Chandu Chekavar (Kunal Kapoor), an infamous warrior in the 13th century North Malabar. Veeram has been simultaneously made in Malayalam, Hindi, and in English with the same title and the Malayalam version is due for release on 24th February.
While the screenplay is written by Jayaraj himself, the dialogues are by Dr.M.R.Varier.Produced by Chandramohan D. Pillai & Pradeep Rajan, the film has music by Jeff Rona while S.Kumar is the DOP and Appu N.Bhattathiri is the editor. Except for Kunal Kapoor the rest of the star cast is relatively unknown.
