For a country that has for long been the highest film-producing nation in the world, there has for long been a void in the sales and representation space, with not a single sales agency present in the country. This however is now changing, with the announcement of Basil Content Media, at the NFDC Film Bazaar in Goa.
Basil Content Media, founded by National award winning producer Vivek Kajaria (Fandry), the company will be led by former festival programmer and Marketing/Production executive, Sanjay Ram along with former Festival advisor and programmer Rajat Goswami.
“Since Fandry, I had always hoped that there was someone within the country who could assist and represent Indian titles with the ethos that our films contain. It was something that I was planning for long and am glad everything has fallen in place at the right time. BCM will act as a representation agency to offer value and assistance to filmmakers of the region and at the same time help festivals and film commissions navigate through our diverse country.” Said Vivek Kajaria, Producer and Founder, BCM.
The agency has picked up for representation titles such as the festival favorites, including Pulkit’s ‘Maroon’, Ananya Kasravallis’ ‘Chronicles of Hari’, Dnyanesh Zoting’s Drishyam Sundance Lab selection ‘ Raakshas’ for sales and Samit Kakkad’s ‘Half Ticket’ and ‘Kagaz Ki Kashti’, Bhramanand Singhs’ documentary on the legendary singer Jagjit Singh among others for Festival representation.
BCM’s ethos lies in the fact that knowledge amassed is to be shared and that each film has a journey and the role is to be able to assist in that. From Festival representation, Sales, assistance in submissions and pitching at labs and co-production markets to PR, BCM aims to be a one stop shop for filmed content owners.
BCM has further tied up with leading digital content producers and distributors FilmKaravan to strengthen its’ digital distribution of the represented titles.
