Mumbai Film Festival 2016 – Day 7 Must Watch!

Here are the recommendations for the last day of the festival: 

ICON

5:30pm – Endless Poetry – Through Alejandro Jodorowsky‘s autobiographical lens, Endless Poetry narrates the years of the Chilean artist’s youth during which he liberated himself from all of his former limitations, from his family, and was introduced into the foremost bohemian artistic circle of 1940s Chile.

If you are exposed to his cinema, you are not going to miss this opportunity

 

9:15pm – Barakah meets Barakah – Saudi Arabia’s foreign language entry for the Oscars, it is a satirical comedy on the poor boy-rich girl romance.

1:45pm – Lipstick Under my Burkha – The trailer made quite a few ripples in the online world. It is a film about four women trying to satisfy their hidden desires in conservative small town India. One of the few Indian films we are looking forward to watching.

7:30pm – White Sun – A Nepalese films that has been doing the round of festivals. Here’s the Hollywood Reporter recommending it.

PVR PHOENIX

8:30pm – Graduation – Cristian Mungiu is one of the most reputed Romanian director in the festival circuit. ‘4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days’ had won him the Palme d’Or in 2007, while ‘Beyond the Hills’ had won him the Best Screenplay at Cannes.

Graduation is about a doctor’s attempt to use all his influence to help his daughter clear the college entrance exam. But the ideas he comes up with to help her are all against the principles he has taught his daughter. He finds himself caught in an ethical conundrum.

REGAL

10:30am – The Unexpected – Duniya Na Maane is a classic of Indian cinema with one of the best performances ever by Shanta Apte. It is V. Shantaram at his finest!

6:30pm – You are my Sunday –

8:30ppm – Tower
The most tragic incidents in modern American history are the shootouts that take place in universities and schools by gun-wielding psychopaths. One of the earliest of such ghastly incidents was in 1966 when a sniper rode the elevator to the top floor of the University of Texas Tower and opened fire, holding the campus hostage for 96 minutes.

Tower is one of the most fascinating documentaries in the festival. Unmissable!

 

PVR MULUND

4:30 pm – Don’t Call Me Son – This film has a terrific plot: A young boy gets the shock of his life when he learns that the person he has grown up calling his mother is actually someone who had kidnapped him as a child. As he is trying to cope up with this shocking development, he will finally meet his biological family.

The acting has received unanimous praise on the festival circuits. This one promises to be a riveting drama!
