12:30pm – Elle – Legendary French actress Isabelle Huppert gives a standout performance in this thriller in which she plays the CEO of a successful video game company who tries to learn the identity of the man who raped her.
8:00pm – Things to come – When a highly regarded critic like Mark Kermode recommends a film, it just cannot be missed. Also it stars the always magnificent Isabelle Huppert in the lead role.

2:30pm – Endless Poetry – Through Alejandro Jodorowsky‘s autobiographical lens, Endless Poetry narrates the years of the Chilean artist’s youth during which he liberated himself from all of his former limitations, from his family, and was introduced into the foremost bohemian artistic circle of 1940s Chile.
If you are exposed to his cinema, you are not going to miss this opportunity
5:45pm – Apprentice – Sample the plot: Aiman, a 28-year-old Malay correctional officer, is transferred to the territory’s top prison. At his new job, he is asked to become an apprentice to Rahim, the facility’s executioner. Aiman tells his sister of his new position, and she becomes upset when she realizes their father was actually executed by Rahim. Aiman knew this all along. Aiman must overcome his conscience and a haunted past if he wants to become the next chief executioner.
We are intrigued. Also the director has made a fine film called Sandcastle before.
8:30pm/9:00pm – Graduation/Under the Shadow – Both films are highly recommended!

6:00 pm – The land of the enlightened – Thanks to our reader Manjeet for bringing this film to our attention. Check out its trailer. It seems to be a fascinating blend of documentary and fiction based in Afghanistan.
Regal –
7:30pm – The Commune – A stylish melodrama from Thomas Vinterberg who has made the exceptional Hunt with Mads Milkensen back in 2012.

5:30pm – Lantouri
A redemption tale of an acid attack survivor, this film would be something we Indians could certainly relate to. Hollywood Reporter has loved it – http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/review/lantouri-berlin-review-866468
8:30pm – Red Turtle – The latest film from the Japanese animation power house Studio Ghibli, this one’s a dialogue-less film that follows the major life stages of a castaway on a deserted tropical island populated by turtles, crabs and birds. If you have seen any of Studio Ghibli’s films, you wouldn’t be missing this one.

8:30pm – After the Storm –
Kore-eda is one of the most deeply affecting filmmaker around the world. He has the knack of heartfelt, engaging, minimalist family dramas. This one is in the similar mould. If you have enjoyed his ‘Like Father, Like Son’, you would enjoy this one too.
The film is about a dissolute detective trying to reconnect with his distrustful family after the death of his father.
