Mira Nair’s latest film Queen Of Katwe is the true story of young Ugandan chess prodigy Phiona Mutesi. The film stars debutante Madina Nalwanga as Phiona Mutesi, Golden Globe nominee David Oyelowo as Robert Katende – Mutesi’s mentor and Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o as Phiona’s mother Harriet Mutesi.
Based on Tim Crother‘s book of the same name, the film’s screenplay is written by William Wheeler and shot by Sean Bobbitt (12 Years a Slave, The Place Beyond The Pines).
