10 Most Anticipated Hollywood Movies Of 2014

Most Anticipated Movies Of 2014

Without wasting further time, let me write about the most anticipated movies of the year 2014.

22_jump_street_movie_poster_1Kindly note that this list is purely compiled on the basis of my personal choices and preferences.

10. 22 Jump Street : Co-Written by the multi-talented actor/writer Jonah ”Superbad, MoneyBall” Hill  he teams up once again with Channing ”G.I Joe”Tatum in 22 Jump Street. 22 Jump Street is a story of 2 undercover cops who are so good at being incapable that in the 1st film they had to let go of a criminal because they couldn’t read him his rights. The film which is directed by  Phil Lord and Chris Miller (Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs) is a sequel to the hilarious 21 Jump Street. This time they are going undercover in a local college, so expect some more funny one liners and insane gags.

9. A Million Ways to Die in the West : Written & directed by an absolute mental Seth”Family Guy, Ted” MacFarlene, this film promises to push the limits of  comedy which range from  gross to the most creative gags. See the fight scene between Mark Wahlberg and Ted in the movie Ted to know what am talking about. A Million Ways To Die In The West tells the  story of a cowardly farmer who seeks the help of a gunslinger’s wife to win back the woman who left him. It sounds serious but trust me it’s going to be madness and knowing Seth’s work it maybe something out of the box.

8. Exodus : Exodus is based on the Bible Book Of Exodus and is directed by Ridley Scott starring Christian”American Hustle, The Fighter”Bale & Aaron”Breaking Bad” Paul. This one promises to be a grand religious epic and looks promising in the hands of Ridley”Gladiator”Scott who has a knack for directing lavishly mounted films. Gear up for loads of action and excitement on a epic scale.

The Lego Movie7. A LEGO Movie : How can one not have an animated feature in a list and this one caught my attention right away. As kids, we were all fascinated by Legos and the fascination is brought to life as an ordinary LEGO minifigure, mistakenly considered extraordinary MasterBuilder is joined on a quest to stop an evil LEGO tyrant from gluing the universe together. If the promos are anything to go by expect a dish with fun and delight to be served animation style.

6. RoboCop : The promo of this film blew me away. A remake of the classic Robo Cop, this looks slick and dark. The gritty look of the film is something that catches the eye and with an all black RoboCop this one promises awesomeness. If the Dredd remake was any indication of  gritty films, set in the post apocalyptic future, I have high expectations from this one. And it only gets better considering that it’s directed by José“Elite Squad”Padilha. Set In year 2028 Detroit, when Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) is critically injured in the line of duty, the multinational conglomerate OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer and then all hell breaks loose.

5. X-Men: Days of Future Past : When all the stars from X-Men & X-Men: First Class come together, do you need any other reason to watch this movie? Well let me give you another one and it’s directed by Bryan”X-Men, The Usual Suspects”Singer. He is back in the directors seat after helming the first two X-Men films and is written by one of the hottest writers for superhero movies in Hollywood; Simon Kinberg & Matthew Vaughn. There is absolutely no reason to miss this one.

maze runner4. The Maze Runner : The subject matter excited me to include this film in the list. Set in a post-apocalyptic world, young Thomas is deposited in a community of boys after his memory is erased, after learning they’re all trapped in a maze that will require him to join forces with fellow “runners” for a shot at escape. Everyone enjoys a good escape movie and if the synopsis is anything to go by this one looks all set to deliver the thrills. Directed by Wes Ball, The Maze Runner stars Thomas Brodie Sangster and Will Poulter amongst others.

3. Noah : Directed by Darren ‘ Requiem for A Dream’ Aronofsky, the film tells the legendary story of Noah’s Ark. The film features a star studded cast of Russell Crowe, Anthony Hopkins, Ray Winstone and Emma Watson amongst others. Expect a visually stunning and engaging account of the classic tale of Noah’s Ark.

The Monuments Men2. The Monument’s Men : An unlikely World War II platoon is asked to rescue art masterpieces from Nazi thieves and return them to their respective owners. Written by George Clooney & Grant Heslov (Good Night, and Good Luck, The Ides of March) and directed by George Clooney. If Clooney’s track record is anything to go by and the subject matter is anything to write about, this one promises a film full of excitement fun and robbery. The fact that this film is based on a true story, should sound all the more exciting for movie buffs.

1. Interstellar : If anyone even remotely knows me, then this choice shouldn’t be  that difficult to predict. Written by Jonathan Nolan & Christopher Nolan and  directed by the commercial yet creative genius director Christopher Nolan. The film is about a team of explorers who make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage. Couldn’t understand anything, right? Well it’s Nolan and he tends to do that. The film is based on the works of Kip Throne – the American theoretical physicist. Start training your brains for we have till 7th November 2014 to soak in this time travel extravaganza.
