V.K.Prakash who is currently one of the more prolific Malayalam filmmakers around has not been having a great outing of late. After the disastrous Poppins towards the end of last year he started this year with a slightly unconventional film, Natholi Oru Cheriya Meen Alla. While it did appeal to the critics the film did not do all that well commercially. His next release this year was Thank You which also did not work with the audience as people felt it was a poor rehash of A Wednesday. V.K.P as he is fondly referred to is back now with (The Power of) Silence and here he has worked with Mammootty for the first time. Mammootty has been having a very uneven year so far with Kammath & Kammath and Kadal Kadannu Oru Maathukkutty failing and Immanuel, Kunjananthante Kada and Daivathinte Swantham Cleetus scraping through. Hence Silence is a crucial film for both Mammootty and V.K.Prakash.
While Mammootty plays a lawyer the film also features Anoop Menon as a cop and it is produced by Afseena Salim. Silence is written by Y.V.Rajesh while Manoj Khatoi is the DOP and Mahesh Narayanan is the editor. Silence will be due for release shortly. Check out the trailer for now.
