Celluloid: Trailer

Veteran Malayalam filmmaker Kamal is now all set to present before us his latest film, Celluloid starring Prithviraj and Mamta Mohandas in the lead roles. Celluloid is a biopic based on the life and times of J.C.Daniel, considered to be the Father of Malayalam Cinema. The film takes a detailed look at Daniel’s life, the making of his film Vigathakumaran and the tragic story of Vigathakumaran’s heroine P. K. Rosie. The film is particularly based on the novel Nashta Naayika by Vinu Abraham (which details the story of Rosie) and the biography of  J. C. Daniel by Chelangatt Gopalakrishnan.

Prithviraj plays J.C.Daniel while Mamta plays his wife Janet and for the role of Rosie we have Chandni, a singer making her acting debut. Sreenivasan has essayed the role of Chelangatt Gopalakrishnan who worked and lobbied tirelessly to give Daniel his due in Kerala. The film is produced by Kamal and Ubaid and the music is by M.Jayachandran while Venu is the DOP and K.Rajagopalis the editor. Celluloid is likely for release on 1st February and could turn out to be a very interesting film.

Till then check out the trailer which certainly looks promising indeed.
