First Look-Vishwaroopam & Thupakki

Today being a National Holiday ( May 1st ) Tamil Cinema has chosen to showcase something or the other related to 3 upcoming films. While Ajith‘s Billa-2 is slated to have its audio launch later in the day the 1st look of Kamal Haasan‘s Vishwaroopam ( Vishwaroop in Hindi ) and Vijay‘s Thupakki have also been released on this landmark day.

Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam is a bilingual and has been in the news since the day it was announced. With an eclectic star cast comprising of Shekhar Kapur, Rahul Bose, Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah etc, the film has music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and Sanu John Varghese is the DOP. Written and directed by Kamal Haasan himself, the film is produced by Rajkamal Films ( Kamal Haasan, Chandra Haasan ) and PVP Cinema ( Prasad V.Potluri ). Mahesh Narayan is the editor and while the Hindi lyrics have been written by Javed Akhtar, the lyrics in the Tamil version have been written by Vairamuthu and Kamal Haasan. One of the interesting features of the film is also supposed to be Pandit Birju Maharaj‘s choreography as Kamal Haasan is supposed to have learnt Kathak for a sequence in the film. Viswaroopam/Viswaroop is tentatively scheduled for an August 2012 release.

Thupakki is directed by the popular A.R.Murugadoss and here is working with Vijay for the first time. The rest of the cast includes Kajal Aggarwal, Vidyut Jamwal, Jayaram, Sathyan etc. The film also boasts of top of the line names in the technical crew including Santosh Sivan ( DOP ), Harris Jayaraj ( music ), A. Sreekar Prasad ( editing ). Produced by Kalaipuli S.Thanu the film apparently has Vijay playing an encounter specialist.Thupakki is is also tentatively scheduled for an August 2012 release.

We at MAM would be closely monitoring the progress of Vishwaroopam and Thupakki and definitely bring you the trailer as well as soon as its released. For now have a look at the posters and let us know what you feel about it in the comments section.
